The Official College of Architects of the Valencian Community (COACV) has informed AUG-ARQUITECTOS, SLP of its decision to present the Master Plan of Alpuente (Valencia) at the Congress of the International Union of Architects, to be held in Barcelona from June 28 to July 2, 2026. In its statement, the COACV notes the following:
“The COACV has selected 16 highly relevant proposals in the fields of architecture, urban planning, and landscape design from the last 30 years of the Valencian Community’s history, and we believe that the Alpuente General Plan is an exemplary and contemporary planning instrument, highly inclusive and with a vision for the future of the municipality and its heritage that will benefit the territory at all levels. Furthermore, the COACV considers it essential to give visibility to this instrument of Planning in spaces like the UIA (International Union of Architects) serves as a reminder that its development is a fundamental task for urban planners and public administrations.”
With this decision, which recognizes a way of doing urban planning, territorial planning, and heritage protection to which AUG-ARQUITECTOS, SLP has dedicated 35 years of its professional life, not only is the specific work of our team, which we gratefully acknowledge, but also the importance of something as far removed from the spotlight and the media as the day-to-day work of urban planners and those who, as independent professionals or as civil servants, contribute to the progress of these types of urban planning instruments and make our society a space where the general interest is pursued from a holistic and integrated perspective.
