The City Council of Albocàsser (Castellón) has commissioned AUG-ARQUITECTOS, SLP to draft the Consolidated Planning Text, further solidifying the firm’s leading position in the preparation of such documents in the Valencian Community, having been selected by nine other municipalities to create their respective consolidated texts. In the case of Albocàsser, the commission is part of the update to the local planning system that the city council has undertaken to address the various problems identified as a result of an outdated plan that is inadequate for the municipality’s current needs.
To date, planning of Albocàsser is contained in Subsidiary Regulations approved in 1989, three specific modifications (the first approved in 1999 and the last in 2022), and five special plans (approved between 1999 and 2009). These documents, taken together, are insufficient to provide a coherent response to the town’s needs. Therefore, the town council has set out to address the identified problems with a strategy that, as far as possible, avoids becoming entangled in a process with an uncertain outcome, given the enormous complexity of certain environmental and urban planning procedures at this time.
Given the serious cartographic and technical deficiencies in the planning process, coupled with its dispersion and heterogeneity, it has been deemed appropriate to begin by developing a Consolidated Text in a fully digital format, based on updated and highly accurate territorial (1:5000 scale) and detailed planning (1:1000 scale) maps. In this way, once the Consolidated Planning Text for Albocàsser is available, not only will transparency, efficiency, and precision have been enhanced, but the groundwork will have been laid for making more significant decisions and addressing the necessary changes to the planning process.
