The City Council of Puebla de Arenoso (Castellón, Spain) has commissioned AUG-ARQUITECTOS, SLP to draft its Structural General Plan (PGE). This plan was initially promoted by another firm, which submitted a Draft and Initial Strategic Document. The new assignment consists of advancing the complete plan, along with its associated documents, until the final approval of the urban planning instrument.
Puebla de Arenoso is located in the west of the province of Castellón, in an area that AUG-ARQUITECTOS, SLP is well acquainted with, having drafted six definitively approved general plans, including those for the municipalities of Cortes de Arenoso and Montanejos, adjacent to Puebla de Arenoso. The Cultural Section of the Catalogue of Protections is also being drafted, as well as two amendments to Zucaina.
Puebla de Arenoso is a municipality with a surface area of 42.7 km², located in a mountainous area, where the Mijares River and all its tributaries flow, in an environment of great scenic beauty and outstanding biodiversity. Its small population, reflecting the depopulation problems typical of these rural areas, is distributed across a main town, Puebla de Arenoso, and three districts: Los Calpes, Los Cantos, and La Monzona.
The new General Structural Plan must address the planning of the entire territory, within the framework of structural planning, and delimit small border areas where redefining the urban land boundary is feasible and advisable. All of this must be tailored to the limited human and economic resources of a town of these characteristics, for which the general plan cannot become unworkable. From this perspective, rigor, simplicity, and precision in the new plan’s design will be the guiding principles of this professional assignment, with which AUG-ARQUITECTOS, SLP consolidates its position as the firm with the largest number of master plans developed in this part of the province of Castellón.
